Press release on presidential election in Rwanda

The presidential election took place in the Republic of Rwanda on August 4. According to the National Electoral Commission, current President Paul Kagame was re-elected with over 98 per cent of the vote.

Observers from the African Union, the East African Community, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region have recognised the election as valid. No serious violations that could influence the voting were recorded.

Moscow looks to the presidential election in the Republic of Rwanda to serve the further progressive advancement of Rwandan society towards stable political and socio-economic development.
