A picture taken by customs in Egypt proves Brit Laura Plummer did not try to hide the painkillers that landed her in jail, says her sister.

Rachel Plummer uploaded the official image to Facebook to disprove rumours Laura had put Tramadol pills in paracetamol boxes and hidden packets throughout her luggage.

Laura – who turned 34 behind bars on Saturday – is serving three years for taking 290 Tramadol pills into the country for her boyfriend’s bad back, unaware they were illegal.

The picture, taken after her arrest, shows the tablets on a table, along with a passport. Five boxes of tablets, three the same, are beside them.

Rachel wrote: “The picture is the photograph taken by Egyptian authorities.

"A rumour they were hidden in paracetamol boxes has angered me so much from the moment I heard it.”

Laura was earlier told she would be freed on a presidential pardon, but is still in jail.

Last week boyfriend Omar Azim Saad, 31, visited her at her women’s jail near Cairo.

Laura's other sister, Jayne Synclair, recently revealed the Brit is "desperate to come home".

She said Laura "never got her hopes up about a pardon" and said she is "being treated better" on the inside.

After arriving back in the UK last month, Jayne said: "She looked a lot better this time than when we last saw her.

"She has her own bed and everyone is being really nice to her and she is being treated better.

"She's so desperate to come home - she can't believe all the support she is getting."
