Officials: South Carolina man tried to smuggle meth in to women's prison
A man is accused of conspiring to smuggle methamphetamine into a women's prison, according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Timothy Donald Hicks, 57, is charged with furnishing prisoners with contraband and criminal conspiracy. SCDOC says the charges involve leaving a package of meth in an area near the Camille Graham Correctional Institution for inmates to retrieve. The institution houses women with special needs who are 17 years of age and older. An arrest warrant said that between Jan. 9, 2023, and Jan. 20, 2023, Hicks conspired with his unnamed co-defendant through phone calls and verbal communication a plan for Hicks to smuggle in narcotics to the prison. The warrant said on Jan. 17 Hicks received step-by-step instructions as to where to get the 15 grams of meth and where to place the drugs.
