Much has changed for Washington’s football program in the span of just a few months, first with the news that Washington and Oregon could join UCLA and USC in leaving the Pacific-12 Conference for the Big Ten. And then following Washington’s run to the national championship game, coach Kalen DeBoer then left the Huskies program to take over for Nick Saban at Alabama. Fisch was hired away from the University of Arizona, where he had a 10-3 record and won the Alamo Bowl last season.

Among the major losses for Fisch to address will be at the quarterback position after All-American Michael Penix Jr. exited as the No. 8 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Huskies will look to retool after Penix led the nation in passing and made explosive plays look routine. The program’s transition to the Big Ten starts now, too, with the ‘24 season marking Washington’s first in its new league.
